How to Layout your Files for Print Success

1.

Make sure your file dimensions (aka the art board) is set to the same dimensions as the product. For instance, if you purchase a 4" x 6" postcard, we will need artwork that is 4" x 6".  We cannot resize your artwork that is a different dimension to fit a 4" x 6" postcard, without distorting or altering it.  NOTE: If your design has BLEED see Step 2.

2.

Be sure to include BLEEDS. Does the ink go right to the edge of your document? This is called "bleeding off the edge" or simply "bleed". Files with bleed need to be built to the final size PLUS 0.125" extra on all sides. For instance, if you are purchasing a 4" x 6" postcard, the dimensions of your file will need to be set to 4.25" x 6.25". We trim off the bleed in the mechanical cutting process.

3.

Do not place important information in the "safety zone". Does your piece have text or other important elements close to the document edge? If too close, it may get cut off. Establish a "no-go safety zone" of at least 0.125" inside the edge of the document. Do not place important information within this zone, or it may risk being cut off.
